Armenia and Azerbajian make peace: Why Russia's soft power is weak and propaganda is not enough

The Russian news media as I have noticed has become a content mill. Many news sites have become content mills throughout many countries in this age. Even when its long form, it's mostly designed to prop up a political party rather to engage with the reader for any greater insight.

The Russian news media under Putin has continued the same old tactics of the Soviet Union. It is all about puffing up Russia and then saying the West is weak and not strong. One of the main issues is that Putin has been able to continue the economic growth that was fueled by the oil boom in the 2000 to mid 2010s. The price of oil is directly tied to his success as a ruler. He was able to manage this growth and managed to get Russians to be proud in the country again. In the IT area, he also managed to continue Russia's unusual dominance in hacking and cyber warfare. However, it was still too tied to the oil prices.

The United States has had many issues in the contemporary era. However, it still has a lot of human capital that it can use. Russia needs to move away from oil and become more digital oriented if it wants to gain more respect in this day and age.
