Why you probably shouldn't eat at Five Guys unless You follow these nine tips.

Five Guys: Burger and Fries is a premium fast food burger restaurant that began in Arlington, Virginia in the 1990s. Northern Virginia is my home region, and I used to consider them to be one of the best burger restaurants that wasn't a mom and pop or an incredibly expensive hipster area.

However, it is clear that it is not healthy

That is obvious. It is a great food if you are working a lot and burning calories right after eating but as a meal one could be a fan eating week after week, you need to be exercising caution. This is not a restaurant you should eating at weekly unless you cut down on the calories in your meals.

The issue with Five Guys is simply that there is alot of grease with their meals. This is deliberate, helping give them a distinctive taste.

Five Guys is more of a premium burger place but it's not like Shake Shack where the focus is more on clean eats. This is a classic calorie-increasing burger joint, and they are not afraid of it. However, one should be cautious when eating here.

The food is good, but the nutrition is lacking here. However, you should still be able to enjoy this great restaurant as a special premium meal. Here is my advice on it.

My Recommendation:

1. Take the smallest burger on the menu.

2. Do not take the Patty Melt. That is a calorie bomb which give you cholesterol. I recommend eating maybe once every couple month unless you are doing a lot of heavy work and need that protein.

3. Do not take the Cajun Fries. They are delicious but save them for Holidays.

4. Stay away from the regular fires also as they fill it up to brim and has lots of greasy oil put on them to make them tasty.

5. Try to stay away from putting too much cheese on your burgers.

6. Try taking the Hot Dog as an option. It is not as heavy as the burgers.

7. When putting ingredients on the burgers, avoid cheese, or any extra proteins such as bacon.

8. Try avoiding taking a soft drink and just take water.

9. If you are eating the bigger sizes, try sharing the burger with another person.

Replacements for Five Guys Burgers and Fries

If you really need to scratch that Burger itch, here are some restaurants that are somewhat better for you.

1. Shake Shack

2. Wendy's (Buy the Baked Potatoes, great healthy replacement for French fries)

3. Mcdonald's

I would recommend that one place that give you protein and isn't a mom and pop restaurant and is healthy is Panera Bread. They have many "clean" sandwiches that give you protein and also allow for calorie watchers to be satisfied with their choices.
